Petog novembra 1605. godine Gaj Foks (Guy Fawkes) uhvaćen je u

pokušaju ubistva kralja Džejmsa I. Uhapšen je u podzemnom hodniku

britanskog parlamenta, gde je trebao da zapali buradi baruta i digne parlament

u vazduh i time ubije kralja . Nakon dugog mučenja, iznudili su njegovo priznanje

i osuđen je na smrtnu kaznu. Ovaj neuspeli pokušaj ubistva kralja je nazvan

"Barutna zavera", a Gaj Foks kao ličnost je postao simbol revolucionarnog i buntovnog

 ponašanja. Maska sa njegovim likom je danas veoma popularna.

 Barutna zavera i Gaj Foks su veoma često bili tema u:
